From the Beginning
Founded in 1947 in Punta Gorda, Fla., Charlotte Regional Medical Center is Charlotte County’s most experienced hospital. Our 208-bed acute care medical facility serves the needs of Charlotte County on Southwest Florida’s beautiful Gulf Coast. As the area's first hospital, Charlotte Regional has set the standard for quality health care in Charlotte County. The hospital has undergone many changes through the years, evolving from a 12-bed hospital to a thriving, 208-bed medical facility. One thing remains unchanged, however ... our commitment to our community.

Our Goal
Our goal is and always has been to meet local health care needs with a wide range of quality medical services. We offer Charlotte County's only comprehensive cardiac care program, which has been recognized nationally by Solucient with consistent 100 Top Hospitals: Benchmarks for Success awards. Charlotte Regional has also received the 100 Top Hospitals award for the stroke services we provide to our surrounding communities. Our facility has also been recognized by aother national ratings groups for our pulmonary services, stroke services and cardiac care services. Our Commitment to Patient Care
Also on the hospital campus is Riverside Behavioral Center. Riverside is a private psychiatric receiving facility and chemical dependency hospital. Commitment to caring and excellence is paramount, and our goal is to provide the finest mental health and substance abuse programs for individuals and their families. A group of professional staff members provides the expertise and skills needed in a dedicated treatment team.

How to Access Services
Riverside is available for assessments, referrals and admissions 24-hours a day. Referrals to Riverside may be by professionals, family members, friends or oneself. Riverside also offers a Dual Diagnosis Program for patients with co-occuring substance abuse and emotional problems. The Dual Diagnosis Program includes Detoxification Services, Inpatient Care and Partial Hospitalization Services.

Riverside Behavioral Center is the hospital of choice for many area professionals when it comes to the treatment of older people. We are proactively committed to treating the special needs often present in an older population.

Treatment Team
It is our goal to provide personalized patient care, and we start by listening. We believe that each individual has unique needs. Our multidisciplinary team works together to address those needs in a professional, caring and confidential manner.

Treatment teams are led by a psychiatrist who works with a group of professionals including psychologists, rehabilitation professionals, therapists and nurses. In conjunction with the team, each patient works to understand and modify attitudes and behavior so that recovery and reintegration into family and community life happen as smoothly as possible.

Therapeutic Atmosphere
Riverside is designed to provide a therapeutic, caring environment for individuals and their families. Our campus includes a full service medical center and occupational and physical fitness center. The Behavioral Center offers semiprivate inpatient rooms, group therapy rooms and recreational areas. Riverside is designed to provide a comfortable, safe therapeutic environment.

Financial Counseling Available
Financial concerns often add to the stress of seeking help. Financial counseling is available to answer questions about cost of treatment, insurance coverage and payment alternatives.

As a community service, our assessment center offers free evaluations seven days a week, 24 hours a day. As part of our commitment to excellence and service to the community our experienced counselors will assess the problem and make appropriate recommendations. All inquiries, consultations and treatment are held in the strictest confidence.
