Punta Gorda, FL (September 26, 2012) - Guess what’s arrived at Charlotte Regional Medical Center? Walgreens Pharmacy now offers patients a bedside delivery program at the hospital.
The program works like this: Walgreens has a full time pharmacy technician at Charlotte Regional who rounds on the units, speaking with patients about the bedside delivery program. If the patient wishes to participate in the program, the pharmacy tech arranges for prescriptions to be filled and delivered to the hospital prior to patient discharge. A Walgreen’s pharmacist will call the patient in their room and after discharge to review their new medications.
Discharged patients no longer have to visit a pharmacy to drop off, wait on, and pick up a prescription after leaving the hospital. For added convenience, a Walgreens pharmacist follows-up with the patient within 48 hours to answer any questions about the medication, side effects, etc. If the patient has a preferred pharmacy, subsequent refills can be transferred to the pharmacy of the patient’s choice.

The bedside delivery program is available to discharging patients, Emergency Room patients, surgery outpatients, cardiac outpatients, physician office building patients, acute rehabilitation patients, and other - as well as the hospital’s employees, physicians, partners, and contractors.
